Bearing Cover Inserted (BCI) rotary unions are used in continuous casting for steel segment rolls with water operation.
This self-centering device is mounted in the bearing housing to protect the rotary union from breakouts and eliminate lateral stress caused by external flexible hoses. The ability to handle misalignments, the large cross-section, and the simple design make this rotary union the preferred model for all new and refurbished roll segments in the continuous casting area. Field tests have shown that the BCI rotary union can be used in multiple runs without repairs.
